University: First Year Shopping List- Bedroom and Bathroom...

Hello! As my amazing Gap Year is coming to an end and the reality of university is starting to kick in I am extremely nervous and as usual, turning to my blog for comfort. For the first time in 19 years I'll be living independently without either of my parents around to help, I will have to try and work my way around the food shopping, washing machine and waking up to my first alarm on my own! So if you're at the stage of shopping for your university room and lectures then keep reading for some inspiration!
I have also split these into categories for Bedroom, Kitchen and Stationary because otherwise this blogpost would have gone on forever! So today we're starting with bedroom and Bathroom...

Bedroom...

  1. Sheets, Duvet and Pillows (Including mattress protector), you can get these in packs of 2 or 4 normally.
  2. Duvet covers and Pillow cases - You can find really nice ones in Primark or Ikea for really good prices!
  3. Bin- Sometimes provided by the uni but always good to have a spare.
  4. Alarm clock- Don't just trust your phone, you don't want to miss out on anything by accident.
  5. Storage boxes- You can find cheap plastic storage boxes for really cheap to keep under your bed or in the cupboard and put extra clothes and spare stationary in just to make good space!
  6. Laundry Basket- To put all your dirty clothes in for when it comes to wash day.
  7. Cushions- Just to make it feel comfy and homely!
  8. Rug- Again mainly for decoration but can make the room feel more comfy.
  9. Lamp- Some uni's provide this but you might want one you can clip by your bed for reading etc for example
  10. Fairy lights, photos, memories, bunting and plants!- Again for decoration and to feel comfy, I'm personally going to be taking my cactus with me.
  11. Door stops- So on moving day you can keep your door open and people will be more likely to come and say hello!
  12. Books- To keep you entertained, or if you're like me a studying English they're pretty compulsory.
  13. Mirror- Full length if possible!
  14. Hangers- You can get big packs of these for quite cheap and you can them move them with you into your second and third year houses or halls! For example
  15. DVD's/Films- If you have a laptop and no TV taking some of your favourite films can help you relax after a busy day.
  16. Scentsy Warmer- These are more on the expensive side however it is effectively an electric wax warmer just to make your room smell nice as you are often not allowed candles.
  17. Hot water bottle- For those cold nights to keep you nice and comfy and toasty.
  18. Spare bags- such as bags for life (to carry your shopping in) and Tote bags that are small and easy to carry on days when you need to take a few things with you at once.
  19. Weekend bag- To put everything in for when you go on your trek back home every now and then.
  20. Makeup brushes, beauty bits and all things pretty- To decorate your desk area so you have somewhere to do your makeup etc.
Bathroom...
  1. Toiletries- ETC Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower gel... You can make this list yourself!
  2. Bath mat- To go outside your shower so you don't slip when you get out.
  3. Dettol wipes and cleaning supplies- To wipe down your sink shower and everything to keep it clean.
  4. Toothbrush holder- To hold all your toothbrush, toothpaste and floss needs.
  5. Small Basket- To keep in your bathroom if you have room where you can put extra toiletries, toilet paper, pads/tampons (If needed) and anything else you think you'll need extra of.
  6. Bin- Pretty self explanatory but always good to have in a bathroom!
  7. Towels and flannels- For all your showering needs.
  8. Febreeze or the equivalent- To keep your bathroom smelling nice at all times.
  9. Medicine Basket- This can be kept in your room or bathroom wherever is easiest, you can keep paracetamol, cold and flu tablets, strepsils and all those things for when you get that ever coming winter cold, oh and for all the hangover/early lecture mornings.
  10. First Aid Kit- Could be included in the medicine basket but feel like it needed it's own mention especially if you're as clumsy as I am!
Obviously if there is anything else you can think of feel free to comment below to help extend the list I will be more than greatful! And as always I'll speak to you again soon!
